1st Annual Greyhound Planet Day

Washington, D.C. - September 22, 2002

On Sunday, September 22, 2002, GPA helped to celebrate the first ever Greyhound Planet Day! Greyhound adoption and rescue groups all over the world participated by sponsoring events to promote greyhound adoption and GPA-NoVA sponsored the “Greyt American” walk on our beautiful national Mall in Washington, DC.

Together with our friends from Greyhound Rescue and GPA-Maryland, we showed off our beautiful hounds to tourists and locals alike as we walked from the Washington Monument down the Mall to the Capitol.

About 100 greyhounds and their people showed up to support the cause of greyhound adoption. Some older hounds were content to sit under a shady tree while others made the trek down the Mall. Brochures and business cards were handed out and a good time was had by all! 

A big THANK YOU to all of the members, owners and friends who turned out for this worthy event. Next year will be even bigger!!
