Board of Directors
PRESIDENT
Angela Kummel
angela@kummel.org
Angela began attending GPA-NoVA events in 1999 and was blessed with
Brady in 2000. Brady passed on to the Rainbow Bridge in 2007. Greyhounds
Ariel and Haley now entertain everyone and share Angela with Molly,
a Bichon Frise and the rest of the gang (cats, birds, chinchillas,
and reptiles). Angela and the whole gang live in Reston and enjoy
walking the paths and attending GPA-NoVA events representing what
wonderful companions Greyhounds are.
VICE-PRESIDENT
Chris Cutler
cscutler@gmail.com
Chris adopted his first greyhound, Harley, in March 2007, and recently
adopted, Twister, after initially fostering him for a few months.
Chris earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in 2001 and
his Masters Degree from George Washington University in 2006. Chris
is currently an IT Project Manager for CWPS Inc., and performs IT
services for the Federal Government. Outside of volunteering for GPA,
Chris is active in athletics, attends multiple sporting events (especially
anything Hokie related), and even charters buses for Virginia Tech
alumni to attend home football games.
TREASURER
Scott Silvers
scott.c.silvers@gmail.com
Scott joined GPA-NoVA when he and his fiancée adopted their
first greyhound, Eagle, in September 2000. Eagle was joined shortly
thereafter by another greyhound, Aren. Together, they've all participated
in Home Visits and Meet & Greet events all over the area, showing
people what wonderful pets retired racing greyhounds make. Eagle passed
on in June 2009 and is greatly missed. Scott has served on the boards
of several non-profit organizations, and this is Scott's second time
serving on the GPA-NoVA Board of Directors.
Board Members Emeritus
Kathe Fritz
kathe@gpa-nova.org
Kathe is one of the founding members of GPA-NoVA and we're very
happy to have her still serving our cause. In the 12 years
since she first became involved with greyhound adoption, Kathe has
been owned by 12 greyhounds, 3 cocker spaniels and 1 chinese crested.
When not devoting her time to GPA-NoVA, Kathe works at a veterinary
clinic and shares her home and heart with 6 greyhounds, 1 chinese
crested and, of course, her husband Paul.
Others Who Lend a Greyt Big Helping Hand
Regan Mahoney
reganaxp@aol.com
Regan and his wife are owned by three female greyhounds: Celeste,
Darcy, and Bonny... and animals are big part of the Mahoney household:
in addition to the three greyhounds they are owned by 3 cats and
a horse. Regan has been an active volunteer in GPA-NOVA since adopting
his first grey in 2006. Eventually he decided to use his education
(MPA with nonprofit management concentration) and professional background
in nonprofits to help out the group at the Board level. He also
has served on a national educational nonprofit Board both as a volunteer
and Board member, and has been involved with several nonprofit focus
and fundraising groups.
Lisa Read
Lisa_Read@hotmail.com Lisa first became active in GPA-NOVA in 1999
when she adopted her first greyhound, Mr. Darcy. Lisa and Darcy
began attending the monthly meet and greet in Springfield, VA almost
immediately and still attend most months. About a year later, Lisa
adopted her second greyhound, Abby, who passed away in 2006. In
2007, Max joined the family. Lisa, Darcy, Abby and Max have conducted
numerous home visits in the Northern Virginia area over the years
and are responsible for many greyhounds finding wonderful homes.
Lisa lived in Springfield, VA until recently when she moved to Montgomery
Village, MD with Max, Darcy and two cats, Nelly and Naomi.
Gay LaNasa
Gay adopted her first greyhound, WYLDE GUY, "GUY", in
1992. (He was anything but wild!) She has been an active volunteer
with GPA-NoVA since 1999. When Guy went to the bridge, Chelby and
Governor came into her life. She served on the board from 2004 thru
2008. In addition to volunteering for GPA-NoVA, she works as a part-time
bartender for Foxfire Grill.
Cathy Hanratty
Cathy adopted her first greyhound, Oshkosh Kazoo, "Grady,"
in January 2004. Grady and Cathy began attending Meet & Greets
on a regular basis in February 2004. Grady has since been joined
by his two "sisters", Beryl and Sera. Cathy began sewing
coats for GPA in the summer of 2004. She is a retired RN but stays
busy with GPA-NoVA and quilting. She lives in Alexandria with her
husband, Mick.
